Due to recently expressed concerns locally, from District 5420, and from RI over disease spread (Covid AND the awful strain of flu this year) we are temporarily reinstating the Zoom connection for our meetings.  The on-going use of Zoom will depend on the use of it by our members but for now we are adding it.

NOTE:  these are hybrind meetings.  You may attend in person at The Bloomington Country Club OR you can attend via Zoom.

Valentines Day is coming up and you may need some help celebrating with a sparkling beverage.  How about champagne?  Do you know why champagne is only produced in France?  And, do you know when is the best time to drink it?
Derrick Loyola (one of our newest members) will be educating us on the finer points of Champaign! (Spoiler alert, you may get to taste some of the famed Valentine beverage at this meeting!)

Weekly Polio update:

Rotary Zones 26 & 27

PolioPlus Weekly Update 02 February, 2022

WILD POLIO VIRUS TYPE 1 (WPV1) - once again, for the 12th week in a row, that there were no new cases of the wild poliovirus last week anywhere in the World.
EIGHTY-THREE - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred in Afghanistan.

ONE YEAR & 6 DAYS - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred in Pakistan.
ZERO - The total number of cases of WPV1 that has occurred in 2022

year-to-date.
FIVE - The total number of cases of WPV1 that occurred in 2021.
ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY - The total number of cases of WPV1 that occurred in 2020.

Once again, there were also no new cases of wild polio Positive Environmental Samples (ES) reported. So the total count of wild ES for the 2022 remains at zero. The last ES reported was discovered in Pakistan on December 6, 2021.

OK, this week, we can officially say without any caveats that it has been ONE YEAR without a case of the wild poliovirus in Pakistan...so YES, WE CAN DO THE HAPPY DANCE ONCE AGAIN WITH GUSTO...READY...

SET...GO!!! 😊

As you are aware, our Club sponsored the Rotary Satellite Club of Southern Utah Veterans.

We are happy to see members of their club joining us from time to time and hope perhaps some of you would like to attend a meeting with them.

They meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 5:30 at the Elks Lodge.

Thanks Veterans Club for your service!
