A Holiday Message from our
Club President

Dear Dixie Sunrise Rotary Club,

In alignment with the RI President Holger Knaack’s theme…………….Rotary Opens Opportunities, I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for giving me the opportunity to serve as your President these past 6 months.  More importantly, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your life.  Although this year has been like no other, I am still so appreciative for all the valuable opportunities, experiences and knowledge I have gained while strengthening my friendship with each of you.

It takes a great deal of individual and collective energy to have a successful year, and I thank you for your unique contributions that you bring to our amazing club.  Because of you, we have made this world a better place.  Because of you, the Rotary bigger, better and bolder concept has become our clubs reality.  Because of you, I am able to stand on the shoulder of giants.

For each of you and your families, I wish a special season filled with love, friendship and contentment.

Merry Everything & Happy Always
Suzanne

Notice:
The Club will not hold meetings on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24th) or New Year's Eve (Dec. 31st).
Catch you next on January 7th!

Keep your fingers crossed that we will again be able in meet in person in January.  That decision will be made later this month and you will be notified.  Zoom will continue to be an option even after in-person meetings resume at least for the foreseeable future.

Below are copies of the prayer offered last week by Art and the previous prayer offered initially by Charlotte and re-cycled by Marla. These prayers do reflect the time in which we are living and we hope that there might be a line or a thought that is especially meaningful to each and everyone.

In this spirit, as we hold our last meeting during the Holiday Season and the dawning of a new year, I offer this blessing for all of us.

  • May we each have the courage to face our own wounds from the past so that we might lessen whatever pain we carry.
  • May we each have the words to tell the truth of our past so that it has less influence on the present and we can create a new future.
  • May we each have a deeper trust in our own feelings and experience and see the truth of our lives.
  • May we have friends and teachers with whom we have a deep connection. May their listening and love for us create the space for joy as well as sorrow.
  • May we each have a purpose larger than ourselves that calls us to a connection with all beings and service above self.
May the true spirit of holidays nourish us and prepare us for both the opportunity and inevitable challenge of a new year.
Amen

Prayer for a Pandemic
May we who are merely inconvenienced
remember those whose lives are at stake.
May we who have no risk factors
remember those most vulnerable.
May we who have the luxury of working from home
remember those who must choose
between preserving their health or making their rent.
May we who have the flexibility to care for our children
when their schools close
remember those who have no options.
May we who have to cancel our trips
remember those that have no place to go.
May we who are losing our margin money
in the tumult of the economic market
remember those who have no margin at all.
May we who settle in for a quarantine at home
remember those who have no home.
During this time
when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other,
let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God
to our neighbors.
Amen.
