Due to recently expressed concerns locally, from District 5420, and from RI over disease spread (Covid AND the awful strain of flu this year) we are temporarily reinstating the Zoom connection for our meetings.  The on-going use of Zoom will depend on the use of it by our members but for now we are adding it.

NOTE:  these are hybrind meetings.  You may attend in person at The Bloomington Country Club OR you can attend via Zoom.

Valentines Day is coming up and you may need some help celebrating with a sparkling beverage.  How about champagne?  Do you know why champagne is only produced in France?  And, do you know when is the best time to drink it?
Derrick Loyola (one of our newest members) will be educating us on the finer points of Champaign! (Spoiler alert, you may get to taste some of the famed Valentine beverage at this meeting!)

The Washington County Fair - a major funding opportunity for us as well as just plain fun - will be April 20-24th.

The Parkinson's Walk will be on April 23rd. Stay tuned for details.

IRONMAN!  May 7th!

The Second Annual Dixie Sunrise Rotary Club
Golf Tournament will be held on May 11th.

Wow!  Are we a busy group or what??????

A new feature will be coming your way in each weekly bulletin!  Thanks to PDG Sandi Schwartz this bulletin will include the most up to date information available on world wide Polio eradication.

WILD POLIO VIRUS TYPE 1 (WPV1) for
the 11th week in a row. that there were no new cases of the wild
poliovirus last week in the World.
SEVENTY-SIX - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred
in Afghanistan.
THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-FOUR - The number of days since the
last case of WPV1 occurred in Pakistan.
ZERO - The total number of cases of WPV1 that has occurred in 2022
year-to-date.
FIVE - The total number of cases of WPV1 that occurred in 2021.
ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY - The total number of cases of WPV1 that
occurred in 2020.
Also, once again, there were no new cases of wild Positive Environmental
Samples (ES) reported. So the total count of wild ES reported in the year
2021 remains at 66 (65 in Pakistan and 1 in Afghanistan), with the last ES
discovered in Pakistan on December 6th.
NOTE: Please note that this report contains data as of January 26th, ONE
DAY short of a FULL YEAR since Pakistan's last case of WPV1. But I
can't contain myself @. This newsletter is being published on January
29th, two days after the one year date. So I'm goin' out on a limb here and
saying that, barring any late last minute report, that YES, WE CAN DO
THE HAPPY DANCE WITH GUSTO this week to celebrate
ONE YEAR!

As you are aware, our Club sponsored the Rotary Satellite Club of Southern Utah Veterans.

We are happy to see members of their club joining us from time to time and hope perhaps some of you would like to attend a meeting with them.

They meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 5:30 at the Elks Lodge.

Thanks Veterans Club for your service!
