Welcome to the 2021-2022

and members of our Club
welcome you to share in the work of this great group!

This week's meeting, January 6, 2022

Mike Branum will lead the Pledge of Allegiance
Richard Schwartz will lead the 4 Way Test
Marla Shelby will offer a blessing.

Due to recently expressed concerns both locally, from District 5420, and from RI over disease spread (Covid AND the awful strain of flu this year) we are temporarily reinstating the Zoom connection for our meetings.  The on-going use of Zoom will depend on the use of it by our members but for now we are adding it.

In addition, Kim and the staff of Bloomington Country Club will arrange for our tables to seat fewer persons per table to allow more distancing.
The Club is not at this time taking a position on masks.  Our only request is that each person respect the wishes of others.

Our program this week:

The stories of Rose Parade Float building!  Seems it was hard work but fun for all.  Come here the story! Sandi Schwartz will share photos, etc. to entice you to join the fun next year!

AND

Remember this?

It's coming back!  April 26th, Sun River Ballroom.
Dave N., Kim and members of the committee will be bringing you the latest update on the plans for this year.

Our program next week, January 13th will be Search and Rescue.  As you know S and R is the primary recipient of the proceeds of the Evening of Elegance.  Learn how we have made a difference for them in the past and how we can continue to support their work.

On January 20th, we will be hearing from Glenn and Janet about the current status of the Youth Programs of Rotary.  With some luck we will see some of the part projects with the youth coming back to life including youth exchange!  Come and learn more!

Art Haines will share with us the service project at Halchita on January 27th.

UPCOMING MEETINGS:

The monthly Board Meeting will be this coming Tuesday, January 11th at 5:00.  As always, the meeting will be at the Summit Sotheby office in Ancestor Square.

The next meeting of the Evening of Elegance Committee will be January 17th at 5:30 at The Bloomington Country Club.

SERVICE ABOVE

SELF*

I have pasted below the nice note we had in response to everyone's generosity for the Christmas gift bags distributed to area shut-ins via Meals on Wheels. This is why we do the work we do with Rotary!

To: Shelby-Drabner, Marla [mswyo2000@yahoo.com]
From: MAUREEN FULLER [
maureenpaula@aol.com]

Dear Marla, I just wanted to thank you and the other members of Dixie Sunrise Rotary for the wonderful gifts you have given to Meals On Wheels to distribute to those of us who have attained an age sufficient to enjoy the Senior Center's services. Your gift are much appreciated and quite helpful. Please convey my thanks to the other members as I'm sure all the other members of our senior community are too. Wishung ALL a very Merry Christmas and a hopefully healthier New Year. Yours, Maureen Fuller

Snow Canyon trail cleanup this Saturday. Please see the invitation from Dave Nelson to participate.  We are doing good work in Snow Canyon, come lend a hand if you can!

Mobile Food Bank will need our help this month, see the invitations for details.

Literacy!

Wouldn't you like to be part of helping third graders be better readers?  Reading is so fundamental for success in life and YOU can make a difference by helping a child improve his/her reading skills.  Please contact Sandi Schwartz or Alicia Maldonado for more details.  These kids need YOU!

As you are aware, our Club sponsored the Rotary Satellite Club of Southern Utah Veterans.

We are happy to see members of their club joining us from time to time and hope perhaps some of you would like to attend a meeting with them.

They meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 5:30 at the Elks Lodge.

Thanks Veterans Club for your service!

NOTICE!
Our meetings currently are in-person only.  The Zoom option has been discontinued as the demand for virtual coverage has waned. Should it be necessary to reinstate that format the Board will consider that possibility.

*Note: our community has an endless number of absolutely critical needs and needs help from our citizens.  However, as a Rotary Club we cannot be all things to all people.  So only those service opportunities approved by the Board will be listed in this bulletin.  If you have project you wish our members to support, please submit your request to President Charlotte prior to the Board Meeting each month.   Thank you!
