Greetings Polio Warriors:
• WILD POLIO VIRUS, TYPE 1 (WPV1) - On the heels of the last reported case of Wild Polio in Pakistan on May 2nd, I’m saddened to inform you that Pakistan has reported another three cases of wild polio, the latest case occurring on May 11th. All three cases were reported in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan, bringing Pakistan’s total to 6 for the year.
TWENTY-ONE - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred in Pakistan (May 11th).
SIXTY-EIGHT - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred in Mozambique (March 25th).
ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-NINE - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred in Afghanistan (January 14th).
ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY-FOUR (1⁄2 YEAR +) - The number of days since the last case of WPV1 occurred in Malawi (November 19th, 2021).
EIGHT - The total number of cases of WPV1 that has occurred in 2022 year-to- date (One in Afghanistan, Six in Pakistan and One in Mozambique).
SIX - The total number of cases of WPV1 that occurred in 2021 (1 in Pakistan, 1 in Malawi and 4 in Afghanistan).
ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY - The total number of cases of WPV1 that occurred in 2020.
ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-SIX - The total number of cases of WPV1 that occurred in 2019.
There was also one new Wild Positive Environmental Samples (ES) reported this last week in the same area as the above WPV1 cases, with collection taking place on May 15th. So the total count of wild ES for 2022 is now THREE, Two from Pakistan and One from Afghanistan collected on May 4th.

*Note: our community has an endless number of absolutely critical needs and needs help from our citizens. However, as a Rotary Club we cannot be all things to all people. So only those service opportunities approved by the Board will be listed in this bulletin. If you have project you wish our members to support, please submit your request to President Charlotte prior to the Board Meeting each month. Thank you!
