Millcreek High School Warm Clothing
We will, as we have for many years now, be gathering warm clothing for the Millcreek High School Students. This year the need is great for coats, socks, gloves, sweaters, sweatshirts. We ask that the items donated be new with the original tags still in place. Donations will be delivered to the school will be December 15th prior to the winter break.
Gift bags for the shut-in seniors.
As you shop this season for basic necessities, please include items for those who live alone and may have no other gifts. Items from basic needs such as lotion to those things wanted but usually out of reach such as notecards and stamps are just the tip of the suggestion ice berg. We have learned from the Senior Center that gloves, chapstick, dish towels, and fun puzzles of any kind are what is needed most. These bags will be delivered that same day as the Millcreek items. So please don't let the need for one prevent you from thinking of the other. After all, we have much and many have little.
As you are aware, our Club sponsored the Rotary Satellite Club of Southern Utah Veterans.
We are happy to see members of their club joining us from time to time and hope perhaps some of you would like to attend a meeting with them.
They meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 6 pm at the Elks Lodge.
Thank You Veterans Club for your service!
Greetings Polio Warriors:
WILD POLIO VIRUS, TYPE 1 (WPV1) - Good news this week...there was NO NEW CASES of Wild Polio Virus Type 1 anywhere in the world.

There were however, 2 new Wild Positive Environmental Samples collected in Afghanistan, both in communities along the border with Pakistan. This brings the total count of Positive Wild Environmental Samples, year to date, 42, 36 in Pakistan and 6 in Afghanistan.
CIRCULATING VACCINE-DERIVED POLIO - On our other battlefront in the war on polio, the circulating Vaccine-Derived Polio, there were 16 new cases compared to 18 cases last week. DR Congo had 13 of those cases, 5 of which were Type 1 and 8 were Type 2, followed by 3 Type 1cases in Mozambique. This brings year to date case totals to 483, compared to 448 a year ago at this time. DR Congo remains our biggest problem, with 212 cases representing 44% of the total
483 worldwide. WHO reports that outbreak responses to both the cVDPV1 and cVDPV2 continue to be intensified in that country.
And finally, there were 1 Positive Vaccine Derived Environmental Sample Type 2 (ES) reported last week from Zambia, That brings the total number of Positive Vaccine Derived Environmental Samples (ES) to 249 for the year.
