THIS WEEK
is the offsite meeting! We will have the opportunity to be part of the ribbon cutting ceremony for our first Little Library!
We will meet at the usual time (with a boxed breakfast) but in the conference room of the Root For Kids location on Tonaquint. After our usual Club "stuff" we will step outside for the ribbon cutting ceremony to which the public and the media have been invited.
A couple of things about this meeting....
If you have not signed up on the sheet that has been circulated at the meeting but would like to attend, please e-mail me (mswyo2000@yahoo.com) or call or text me (435 669-5411) by noon tomorrow (Wednesday, October 6th) with your intent to join in so I can be sure we have enough breakfast boxes ready.
And, as you know, there is no charge to members for off-site meetings. HOWEVER, for this meeting and this meeting only there will be a voluntary surcharge of
ONE BOOK!
Please bring one book, new or gently used, for a child or adult to help us stock the Little Libraries.

A new opportunity!
Our Club is launching a new way for you and your friends to be of service!
We will be visiting Snow Canyon State Park monthly, starting on October 9th (and each second Saturday thereafter) to do trail maintenance. Sandi Schwartz will be leading this work project. See her for more details.
And, speaking of Sandi Schwartz.....
please see Sandi's invitation below to help her help us raise our awareness of - and contributions to - Polio eradication. We are "This Close!"

October 24, 2021 is World Polio Day. This is the day to celebrate Rotary's long fight to eradicate this horrible disease in the world and the good news is we have a lot to celebrate and be grateful for. We only see 2 reported cases of the wild polio virus worldwide for 2021 as opposed to over 100 cases in 2020 (see report attached).
This year marks the 4th year of my "Ride to NoWhere". I will be riding 100 miles on my indoor bike (thus the destination!!). I dedicate these rides to all of the brave volunteers who are relentless in getting the vaccine out to the children of the world while risking their lives to do so. This year there have been more workers and their security killed while volunteering than have been victims of the disease.
If you would like to donate money to The Rotary Foundation to support my ride you can either do that yourself and let me know OR send me a check made out to The Rotary Foundation and mail it to my home address and I will send it in your name (I do need your Rotary ID number).
If you are a Peloton bike owner, hop on your bike that day and search for my leaderboard name "NaMa" or my hashtag "#100forpolio". It takes me about 6 hours to ride the 100. I would love your hi 5's.

A reminder, if your business or organization would like to take advantage of Dr. Carroll's offer to speak to your staff/volunteers on controlling the COVID 19 spread, please contact terri.draper@imail.org or contact me (Marla) and I will get you connected.

As you are aware, our Club sponsored the Rotary Satellite Club of Southern Utah Veterans.
We are happy to see members of their club joining us from time to time and hope perhaps some of you would like to attend a meeting with them.
They meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 5:30 at the Elks Lodge.
