The November food bagging and distribution was again a huge success, even though we ran out of food to distribute at both our sites. We had over 98 volunteers, 294 volunteer hours, 3,370 bags/boxes of food and fed around 1,100 people. We think this may be our largest number of people we have served at these food distribution events.
People receiving these food donations are always very appreciative and humble. Our continued thanks to the Utah Food Bank, rotary clubs of St. George, Sunriver hiking club, singles club and many other church and community members. As Dixie Sunrise Rotarians we too are humbled by the continued food insecurity in our county, state and country. As we reflect on the meaning of Thanksgiving, let us give thanks for all we each personally have with our families, friends and country. May we continue to reach out to others and keep practicing our rotary slogan of service above self.
